A name traded for a second chance. The being that called itself a child, something sanity-chipping given form, had laughed as she shattered into a thousand shards and sundered into the basic existence of the universe. She was slapped together with little care and left in the smallest, darkest room, an orange pulsing orb the size of her fist encrusted in a single stalagmite with the symbol of a four. She was just a number to that thing, not the first, definitely not the last. But she refused to be just victim number four, so she pulled a floating thought from the air and named herself Delta. Hopeless optimism was better than screaming fear, she told herself as the house burned but at least she was warm. The walls were hard packed dirt, loose stones, and not a lot else, and when she tried to march up the tunnel, a completely white wall blocked the sunlight. She could not leave, stuck in some void state to hang about with some ominous globe of eerily light. When she finally provoked the orb with insults, it pulsed and a goblin formed from the dust, a minion for her dungeon. The goblin spoke of jobs and guarding doors, and Delta learned she was a Dungeon Core, a thing of power that could build monsters and traps from the very soil. She was a system-breaker in waiting, a girl who took terrible monster ranches and dying villages and led them to success, and she shouted a challenge to the little demon-child who had made her. She would survive, she would grow, and she would find him and feed him to her dungeon floor.
I can't move you, I can't bash my head on you, you're not exactly stimulating this conversation. I must admit, I'm kinda lost on what the frick I'm supposed to do with you!

Delta, a reborn human girl trapped as a numbered orb, names herself and discovers her goblin minion Fran. She learns she is a Dungeon Core with a menu for building monsters, traps, and rooms using mana. The first days are a scramble for resources as she spawns goblins and mushroom spitters, defends against a farmer with a fire pistol who dies in her halls, and absorbs his fire element to unlock new construction. She discovers her dungeon has a max room limit and a boss room that turns Fran into Sir Fran, the Pig Knight, a mounted warrior. The guilt of the farmer's death weighs on her as she realizes she must make moral choices about killing to survive.
Delta awakens as a dungeon core, learns her powers through trial and error, and faces the first deadly consequence of her existence.
Two experienced adventurers, Ruli and Quiss, explore Delta's dungeon, appraising it as a nature-themed Mushroom Forest. They are impressed by her creativity but warn her of the world's dangers. Delta reveals her pacifist philosophy through Fran, her goblin mouthpiece, vowing not to kill. Ruli and Quiss offer advice and become her first real allies, agreeing to help her grow non-lethally. Ruli gifts her a diary that unlocks monster upgrades, and Quiss's summoned duck, Waddles, becomes a contracted Dark Drake guardian. Delta learns that people and monsters are sources of mana and DP, but she chooses to earn them through challenges and tribute rather than murder.
Delta establishes a non-lethal code, befriends Ruli and Quiss, and learns to grow her dungeon through mutually beneficial relationships rather than slaughter.
Delta saves enough DP to purchase a second floor, choosing a jungle theme and frog tribesman monsters. The new floor brings a massive room, a hidden mana spring, and dangerous Slimer monsters that force her first lethal defense. She discovers the challenges system, allowing adventurers to earn rewards for non-lethal feats. Hob and Gob, her contracted goblins, are attacked by a giant Black Forest Spider, and Delta evolves a Myconid to defend them. The biggest threat emerges when she digs into a circus tent containing a starving Mime ghoul named Renny. Ruli nearly kills the mime, but Delta sees a spark of trapped consciousness and offers a contract instead, saving him and adding a powerful ally to her roster of contracted monsters.
Delta expands into a second floor, develops a non-lethal challenge system, and risks everything to contract a dangerous mime instead of killing it.
The elders of Durence, including Old Lady Jose, Haldi, and Pic, are revealed to be ancient protectors guarding a terrible secret beneath the land. Quiss and Ruli investigate the town's mysterious past, learning of a war against three dark Lords and their knights, a conflict that left the land mana-starved and the heroes bound to watch over a sealed evil. The dungeon's rising mana is reawakening the elders' old powers and memories, and Haldi sends a message to an old guild leader. Meanwhile, new villagers like the potter Japes and his curious golem Vas become entangled in the dungeon's affairs, with Vas teaching a pottery-loving mushroom and the elders cautiously monitoring Delta's growth as she digs deeper into the underground.
The cozy village of Durence hides a dark war-torn history, and Delta's emergence is awakening ancient powers and buried secrets that threaten to resurface.
Once a human girl, Delta is reborn as a dungeon core and vows to grow without killing. She learns to navigate the system menu, build traps and monsters, and earn mana through tribute and challenges rather than murder. Her friendship with the villagers of Durence, especially Ruli and Quiss, helps her survive. She forms contracted bonds with goblins, a duck, a frog warrior, a mime, and more, building a sanctuary of wonder rather than a killing field.
Delta's first goblin minion, Fran evolves into Sir Fran, the Pig Knight, riding his boar Bacon. He serves as the final challenge of the first floor. Fran is fiercely devoted to Delta and loves testing his strength against worthy adventurers like Cram. He refuses to surrender and demands respect from all who enter his arena. His bravery and heart unlock the Bravery Lance ability, a testament to Delta's belief in him.
A half-demon hunter with a legendary fishing rod, Ruli becomes Delta's first true friend. She advises the dungeon on how to grow non-lethally and defends it against threats like the ghoul mime. Ruli has a complex past involving the Abyss and her mother, Old Lady Jose, one of Durence's secret guardians. She is willing to drain Delta's mana to gain power but respects the core's wishes and protects her fiercely.
