Elric Voss wakes to the insistent, if annoying, voice of his younger sister, Mel, from his silver orb alarm clock. He carries the lingering unease of a monthly nightmare, a recurring vision of a bone-strewn beach and a red, breathing light in a mountain cave. This unease is a subtle hint of the world's underlying magic system, where power, called Anima, is drawn directly from the soul. Every spell cast consumes a piece of that soul, and pushing past a ten percent Anima Depth threshold risks memories, identity, and selfhood – a terrifying cost Elric will soon come to know intimately. He is a sixteen-year-old Acolyte, a low-ranked mage on an expedition to the Caelith, one of thirty-one colossal, upside-down pyramids that fell from the sky ten millennia ago, objects of immense mystery that have defied all attempts at entry. For Elric, this journey is a chance to learn from Adept-level mages, a rare opportunity for a commoner who earned his place by merit alone.
The expedition, however, is not what it seems. As Elric joins his fellow Acolytes – the diligent Dara, his loyal friend Bari, and the arrogant noble Rex – the black pyramid, which has been silently drinking the morning light, begins to pulse red. The ground cracks, not with the groan of settling earth, but with a sound that bypasses ears and resonates directly in the Anima. Demons, creatures thought to be mere historical accounts, pour from the fissures. Elric's meager Initiate-level Spark spell is useless against their brutal efficiency. He watches his companions fall and is himself torn apart, his head ripped from his body. But death is not the end. He snaps awake in his tent, hearing Mel's voice again, the same morning. His status screen confirms the horrific reality: his Auxiliary Skills have grown from the intense combat, and a new title, "Death-Touched," has appeared. He is trapped in a time loop, doomed to relive this horrific day, but with each death, he gains strength and knowledge, transforming his nightmare into an unwilling path to power.
But what if... stay with me here, what if that man cannot die?
MAGUS INFINITE
Elric wakes to his sister's alarm, the lingering dream of a bone-strewn beach and a pulsing red light clinging to his mind. He is a diligent but low-ranked Acolyte, proud of his Threadwork skill, on an expedition to the enigmatic Caelith pyramid. This black, upside-down behemoth fills the southern sky, drinking light and defying explanation. As he eats bad porridge with his friends, the pyramid pulses red, then the ground splits open, unleashing demons. The Academy's scant demonology curriculum proves tragically inadequate as the first demon moves with terrifying speed, slaughtering Pell, then his friends Bari and Dara, in horrifying fashion. Elric, despite his fear, desperately casts a Threadwork lattice and spams his weakest spell, Spark 9, which only briefly stuns the creature. He is brutally torn apart, beheaded, and experiences death in vivid detail. He snaps awake in his tent to his sister's voice, the same morning. His status screen confirms the nightmare was real: his skills have grown, notably Spark, Endurance, and Observation, and he has gained a new, ominous title: Death-Touched. The realization hits him like a physical blow: he has died, and the world has reset to the morning of the expedition. He is stuck in a loop, but he carries the knowledge and the gains from his death. This knowledge is his only weapon against the inevitable, forcing him to adapt or perish repeatedly.
Elric's brutal first death and inexplicable reset reveals a time loop, granting him knowledge and skill progression.
Armed with the chilling knowledge of his first death, Elric dedicates his next loop to gathering information. He uses a cover story of "Cartography measurements" to position himself and his friends, Bari and Dara, closer to the predicted crack in the earth, knowing the exact moment and location the demons will emerge. He observes the first demon's weakness in its pale jaw tendrils, which briefly paralyze it when struck by Spark. He focuses his meager Spark 9, hitting the tendrils repeatedly, buying precious seconds for his friends to fight back. This focused effort and his first demon kill unlock the "Demon Slayer" title, an Epic-tier title that, unusually, explicitly details its effects: increased Demonology growth, strong resistance to demonic forces, and evolution through further kills. This revelation, combined with his observation that the demons seem to be watching him, adds a terrifying layer to the loop. He learns that even with his enhanced Spark, he can only temporarily disable one demon, and dozens more are pouring from the crack. He has survived longer and killed one, but the sheer scale of the threat remains overwhelming, signaling that he needs far greater power to make a meaningful difference.
Elric's deliberate use of loop knowledge allows him to kill a demon, unlock an Epic title, and understand the overwhelming scale of the threat.
Realizing his limitations, Elric dedicates a subsequent loop to a single, audacious goal: pushing his Spark discipline to the Acolyte threshold (rank 30). He practices relentlessly, casting Spark two hundred times into the empty air, pushing past fatigue and boredom. His perseverance pays off as Spark evolves into "Arc Lightning" — no longer a mere candle-flicker, but a directable, branching arc with extended duration, a spell usually achieved by Adepts after years of training. Simultaneously, he gains the "Staff Resonance" Attunement Skill, which causes his staff to hum with new life, enhancing his control and efficiency. With this newfound power, he combines Arc Lightning with Surge, his second combat discipline, creating a devastating discharge. When the demons inevitably emerge, he targets a cluster of seven, sweeping his staff to chain the lightning through their heads. The combined cast, powered by his full Anima Depth, incinerates tendrils, shatters skulls, and dismembers limbs, killing all seven in a single, sustained strike. This unprecedented feat of an Acolyte butchering multiple demons in moments marks a colossal leap in his combat capability, and his Demon Slayer title progresses, "Approaching First Earth Gate." He has found a way to fight back effectively, but he still has only half his Anima remaining and has yet to reach the Adepts, who are inexplicably falling.
Elric's dedicated practice evolves Spark into Arc Lightning, granting him immense power to slaughter multiple demons in a single cast.
Determined to understand why the seemingly invincible Adept mages are failing, Elric ventures towards their position on the eastern face of the pyramid. He witnesses the awe-inspiring power of Adept Fenara, who crystallizes the very air to implode demons into fragments, and Adept Varis, who tears holes in space to banish creatures from existence. Yet, Elric observes they are slowing, their spells diminishing—a stark contradiction to an Adept's supposed infinite Anima reserves. This leads him to deduce that something is actively draining their power. His attention is then drawn to the pyramid's western edge where a new, terrifying entity stands: a bipedal, red-skinned, horned demon with four fiery eyes, radiating pure "wrongness." This greater demon, far more powerful than the swarm, grins at Elric, then projects an attack that causes his body to decay rapidly, his bones to mutate into spears, and forces his mouth to speak a guttural, demonic language. His Demon Slayer title burns its stored essence to resist, but it shatters under the immense pressure. He watches in horror as his own mutated hand extracts and offers his still-beating heart to the demon before he finally dies. He wakes to find his "Soul Condition" now "Strained," a persistent damage that carries into the next loop. However, his death has also granted him two new, broken Celestial skills: "Mortal Shell" and "Hollow Avatar," hinting at a deeper, more dangerous path.
Elric witnesses Adept power and its mysterious failure, confronts a terrifying greater demon, suffers soul-shattering death, and gains broken Celestial skills.
Waking with a strained soul and demonic words echoing in his mind, Elric faces a new horror: the greater demon's influence is now internal. In a desperate act, he uses Arc Lightning on himself to force another reset, choosing death over mental subjugation. In the next loop, he gains voluntary access to "Hollow Avatar," a broken Celestial skill that allows him to relinquish conscious control to a primal, combat-focused state, granting immunity to pain, reduced Anima consumption, and the ability to execute pre-programmed sequences. He unleashes this hollow self, stepping back to observe as his body, now a vessel of pure combat instinct, slaughters thousands of demons. His Anima Depth skyrockets to 58, Arc Lightning to 52, Surge to 50, and his Concentration and Endurance reach Adept levels. His staff evolves into "Stormbound Fuchsia," gaining "Lightning Resonance," and his body begins to adapt to lightning, foreshadowing future immunity. He notes the demons' "swarm collective intelligence" and the horned demon's continued observation. Elric has become a one-man army, fighting at an Adept level, but the relentless combat and the use of Hollow Avatar push him further from his human self, and the internal battle for his soul is far from over.
Elric unleashes the Hollow Avatar, achieving exponential power and slaughtering thousands of demons, but at the cost of his humanity and soul's strain.
Elric Voss begins as a diligent but low-ranked Acolyte, an underdog from a common family who earns his place on a dangerous expedition. His life is irrevocably altered when he becomes trapped in a time loop, dying repeatedly to a demonic invasion but retaining his memories and skill gains with each reset. This unique cheat trigger transforms him from a cautious student into a relentless combatant, rapidly evolving his magic and gaining powerful, often broken, Celestial skills like Mortal Shell and Hollow Avatar. He is driven by a desire for knowledge, survival, and a growing, desperate need to protect his friends and understand the conspiracy behind the loop and the Adepts' failures.
Dara is one of the four Acolytes chosen for the expedition, initially outranking Elric and displaying a meticulous, no-nonsense approach to magic and fieldwork. Her keen observation skills are noted by Elric, who initially views her as a rival but quickly comes to respect her. She becomes an ally and friend, supporting Elric's unusual "Cartography measurements" and fighting alongside him against the demons. She dies multiple times within the loop, her reactions to the horror gradually changing with Elric's influence, highlighting her resilience and growing trust in him.
Bari is Elric's closest friend among the Acolytes, a broad-shouldered young man from a merchant family who possesses significant talent in Surge magic but is largely uninterested in the path of a mage. He provides a grounded, often humorous, presence amidst the expedition's horrors, consistently complaining about small inconveniences like bad porridge or a hole in his sock. Despite his reluctance, he proves fiercely loyal, fighting bravely by Elric's side against the demons and serving as an emotional anchor for Elric's increasingly detached psyche within the time loop.
