Kane Walker was a twenty-two-year-old accounting student, unremarkable in every way, until a hard shove on a Tuesday morning sent him under the wheels of a truck. Instead of heaven or a tunnel of light, he found himself floating in a void, a disembodied consciousness drifting without sensation. Then a gentle tug on his soul became a violent spin, and he was gasping for breath in a body that was not his own, inhaling fire and tasting dirt on his lips. He opened his eyes to an impossibly blue sky, an elderly man in elaborate red robes leaning over him, and the impossible realization that he was no longer on Earth. This was a world of Immortal Sects, cultivation, and the terrifying power of beings who could punch holes through trees.
The memories of the original Ke Yin, a young villager recruited for his exceptional spiritual sensitivity, flooded into Kane's mind like water through cracks in a dam. He was now a sixteen-year-old boy in a low-budget wuxia drama, standing before the Azure Peak Sect's hundred-foot fortified walls, about to embark on a journey that would decide his fate. The old man, a sect scout named Old Man Han, led him through the gates into a sprawling complex of buildings that defied gravity, perched impossibly on cliffs. Kane was given a jade identification token, three sets of gray robes, and ten low-grade spirit stones. The weight of his death, his family, and his entire world crashed down on him, but he pushed the panic down, focusing on survival. He had read countless cultivation novels, and he knew the rules: stay under the radar, figure out what cultivation means in this world, and learn everything he could. Step five, figuring out how the original Ke Yin actually died, would have to wait.
The Entrance Exam was a brutal weeding-out process, beginning with a core disciple named Liu Qingge unleashing her aura, a crushing pressure that caused half the recruits to collapse. Those who remained standing were told the test was to awaken their inner world, a space within their soul that would grow as they cultivated, eventually allowing them to add elements, celestial bodies, and even give birth to life itself. Using a Void Touching Leaf to guide his consciousness inward, Kane found himself in a small, dark void, his inner world. There, a light manifested into a young boy with white hair and silver eyes, his inner world spirit. The boy, whom Kane named Azure, was far more advanced than the barely functional tool Senior Sister Liu had described, a direct result of Kane's abnormally strong soul, a gift from his transmigration. Azure then looked through Kane's memories, learning the truth of his origin, and swore to keep his secrets, solidifying their bond. Kane had successfully awakened his inner world, becoming a cultivator at the Qi Condensation Stage 1, and was ready to begin his journey, unaware that his unique soul would soon drag him into a nightmare of time loops and alien suns.
The path to the heavens is long and lonely, only the most diligent travel far on it.
Cultivation is Creation
After a month of tedious herb gathering and a humiliating sparring match against the bullying inner disciple Zhou Ming, Kane pushed himself to a breakthrough, reaching Qi Condensation Stage 2. The moment he succeeded, his soul was violently ripped from his body and hurled into a brutal world with two suns: one blood red, one electric blue. He landed in the body of a dying miller named Tomas, caught in a desperate battle against the Seventh Band, raiders corrupted by the red sun's maddening light. Kane fought alongside the villagers, killing for the first time, and witnessed the horrifying transformation of humans into monstrous Sun-Touched creatures. Just when they thought they might survive, a terrifying Skybound, a robed figure with reality-bending power, appeared and annihilated the village, killing Kane with a single spell. He awoke back in his own body, the entire ordeal having lasted only a few minutes in the cultivation world, but the experience left him shaken and determined to find a way to survive these forced trips.
Kane's breakthrough triggers a forced soul-jump to a deadly alien world, revealing a dangerous new power and a pattern of death and rebirth.
Desperate to gain control over his soul-jumping, Kane chose the World Tree Sutra, a legendary but incomplete cultivation method ranked Beyond Heaven, from the sect library. The method promised to create a tree whose branches pierce dimensional boundaries, a perfect solution to his problem, but it came with a 99.9% failure rate and a horrific warning of transformation into a tree. Elder Chang, the librarian, revealed that the tablet resonated with his soul, a rare occurrence, but Senior Sister Liu, who had watched a previous disciple slowly turn into a tree and lose his humanity, pleaded with him to choose a safer path. Kane, however, was convinced that only a method that bridged worlds could save him from his chaotic soul. He spent a week of intense cultivation, completing four of the five steps to create the Genesis Seed, but was stopped by the final step, which required otherworldly energy. The breakthrough to Stage 3 triggered another soul-jump, this time back to the Two Suns world, but Kane was ready, willingly embracing the pull to acquire the energy he needed.
Kane stakes his life on a legendary, incomplete cultivation method, the World Tree Sutra, as his only hope to control his world-hopping affliction.
Returning to the Two Suns world, Kane used his prior knowledge and the Tri-Essence Harmony Technique to survive the initial battle longer, but the Skybound, Vayara, captured him and forcibly transformed him into a Sun-Touched, a monstrous creature of the red sun. The transformation was agonizing, his bones snapping, his skin etching with living tattoos, but his consciousness, protected by the incomplete Genesis Seed, remained intact. He was able to separate his soul from his transforming body, watching in horror as his physical form became a mindless beast under Vayara's control. The experience was a living nightmare, but it also gave him exactly what he needed: a sample of pure, otherworldly energy from the red sun. When he snapped back to his own body, he found a miniature, blood-red sun hovering in his inner world, the key to completing the World Tree Sutra. He used this energy to finally awaken the Genesis Seed, completing the First Stage of the method and achieving a measure of control over his soul, feeling a choice where before there was only a violent pull.
Kane endures a horrific transformation into a Sun-Touched monster, but uses the experience to steal the otherworldly energy needed to awaken his Genesis Seed and gain control over his soul-jumping.
With the Genesis Seed awakened, Kane needed elemental essences to progress the World Tree Sutra. After acquiring water essence from an underworld merchant in exchange for a future favor, he and his friends, Wei Lin and Lin Mei, journeyed to the Wei family estate to secure wind essence. The trip was a welcome respite from sect politics, offering a glimpse into the world of merchant clans and the complex balance of power between sects and noble families. At the estate, Wei Lin's father, a shrewd businessman, agreed to give Kane the wind essence, but only if he could defeat the family's hired expert, Chen Wu, a 5th Stage Qi Condensation cultivator, in a one-on-one duel. Kane accepted the challenge, seeing it as an opportunity to test his new abilities. He had three days to prepare, and with his soul now under his control, he chose to return to the Two Suns world for a final, focused training session in the Skybound Academy, aiming to master the red sun's power and learn the flying rune before facing Chen Wu.
Kane accepts a duel against a stronger opponent to earn the wind essence, and uses his newfound control over his soul to train in the Two Suns world for a decisive advantage.
