Jin Rou wakes up in someone else's broken body, a transmigrator shoved into the life of a defeated disciple moments after the original owner's heart stops from a beating. The Cloudy Sword Sect looms around him, a world of cultivators obsessed with face, power, and petty cruelty. But where most protagonists would see opportunity for revenge and ascent, Jin Rou sees only a treadmill of violence he wants no part of. He declares any revenge fantasies null and void. The only winning move is to get the hell out of dodge. He walks into the administrative hall, offers his severance money, and formally leaves the sect the first person in over three hundred years to use proper courtesies. The senior disciple Lu Ri, amused and mildly impressed, gives the money back and wishes him well. No one notices the departure.
Jin Rou travels to the Azure Hills, dismissed as the weakest and safest province on the continent. He buys a plot of land considered useless cheap because it requires clearing and has minor monsters. He breathes in the fantastically clean air, grabs his axe, and starts building. Chop wood, break rock, plant crop, nurture with qi, eat food, sleep. Months pass. He loves it here. His rooster Big D follows him around, sitting on his shoulder and proclaiming dominance to the world. There is a certain zen to heavy physical labor fueled by the supernatural strength of a cultivator, even a weak one. He builds a home, grows rice and herbs, and brains a few foxes with a shovel. But something strange is happening in the dirt he waters. The rooster watches his movements, imitates his dance, and begins to feel something swirling within. One night, Big D fights a fox to the death under the crescent moon, and in his final moment he understands: he unleashes blades of light, Rising of the Crescent Moon, and beheads the beast. Jin Rou stumbles into the clearing, stares at the dead fox and the triumphant rooster, and asks only one question. What the fuck?
I declare any revenge fantasies and ambitions null and void.
Beware Of Chicken
Jin Rou's simple life shatters when his rooster Big D awakens as a spirit beast after eating spirit herbs and imitating his master's movements. The rooster develops his own techniques under the moon, defeats a persistent fox, and earns the name Bi De. But Bi De is just the first. A rat named Ri Zu awakens, a pig named Chun Ke, a cat named Tigu, and a dragon named Wa Shi all join the farm as sentient disciples. Meanwhile, the outside world does not forget Jin Rou. The Cloudy Sword Sect sends Senior Disciple Lu Ri to investigate the aftermath of Zang Li's defeat, and Lu Ri discovers that the Azure Hills hold something far more valuable than he expected. He meets Shen Yu, the ancient grandfather of Jin Rou, and the two begin to form unexpected alliances. Back on the farm, Jin Rou marries Meiling, a village healer with a sharp tongue and a sharper mind, and they settle into a life of farming, cooking, and raising spirit beasts who are also their family. But the peace will not last. The sects of the Azure Hills are stirring, and the demons of the north are gathering. The farm must decide whether to hide or to act.
The farm becomes a sanctuary and a power base as spirit beasts awaken and alliances form hinting at larger conflicts ahead.
Bi De, Ri Zu, and Yun Ren journey to the Shrouded Mountain Sect with Shen Yu to investigate rumors of demonic infiltration. They must infiltrate the sect itself, master the politics of cultivation sects, and uncover the truth. Bi De takes human form to join as an inner disciple, Ri Zu transforms to become a medical apprentice, and Yun Ren uses his light-based illusions to join the Inquisitors. They encounter Zang Zhong, a petty tyrant who assigns Bi De to garden duty, thinking he is suppressing him. Instead, Bi De uses the garden to charge herbs with purifying lunar qi and secretly feeds them to the entire sect, testing for demonic corruption. Ri Zu challenges the cold ethics of Master Lishu, choosing to save a patient's life over their cultivation, and proves her philosophy has merit. Yun Ren uncovers the Inquisitors' dark history, a thousand-year grudge against the Che family that has been using them as cannon fodder. But the shocking revelation is that the Shrouded Mountain Sect is not demonically corrupted. They are paranoid, brutal, and oppressive, but they are fighting real demons in the north, thinking they are following orders from the Cloudy Sword Sect in a misunderstanding that will have enormous consequences.
The sect is found free of demonic taint but guilty of institutional cruelty forcing the farm to reconsider their judgment.
Xiulan, Tigu, Xianghua, and their companions travel across the Azure Hills gathering allies for Xiulan's dream to unite the sects and prevent future tragedies like the Sun Ken massacre. They free slaves in a massive conspiracy in Grass Sea City, earning the support of Underbridge and the Acting Lord Magistrate. Tigu discovers the power of empathy and righteous fury, fighting not for conquest but for justice. They visit the Crystal Hill, where a clan of monkeys becomes fully awakened spirit beasts thanks to Jin's gift of memories, and they pledge their wealth and power to the cause. Xianghua returns to the Misty Lake Sect and challenges every elder in a single day, becoming Sectmaster through sheer overwhelming force, then announces her engagement to Gou Ren. Xiulan returns to the Verdant Blade Sect, flaring her cultivation to the Profound Realm and shocking her father and elders, then dances through a fight that shows them their true heritage as dancers and artists, not warriors. She secures their backing for the grand conclave at the Dueling Peaks. The Hermetic Iron Sect joins as well. The banner of Azure rises over three sects and a mountain of spirit beasts, and Xiulan prepares to present her vision to all the sects of the Azure Hills.
Xiulan and Tigu forge a coalition of sects and spirit beasts, demonstrating that unity and justice can challenge the established cultivation order.
Back on the farm, life continues with joy and routine. The house is expanded, plumbing is installed, and a naming ceremony is held for Jin and Meiling's son, Rou Zhuye. The ceremony is interrupted by Vajra the Boozemaster, a spirit beast bee queen who has been secretly awake for years and who brings her entire hive to pay tribute, presenting tapestries, honey, and a crown of flowers. She has been waging war on mosquitoes. The farm's family grows stranger and larger. Meanwhile, Senior Disciple Lu Ri returns with the Eight Gates North Turtle Formation, a masterpiece defensive array from the Cloudy Sword Sect, and formally declares the House of Hong and Lin Bao as Honoured Allies of the Cloudy Sword Sect. Hong Yaowu is now under the protection of one of the most powerful sects in the Empire. The farm is no longer just a farm but a node of power and influence that cannot be ignored. And deep under the earth, Tianlan, the earth spirit of the Azure Hills, rests and dreams, watching over her people and feeling their oaths resonate in her soul. She knows they will come home.
The farm is recognized as an official ally of the Cloudy Sword Sect while the community celebrates a new generation and a growing family.
A young man from our world who dies and wakes up in the body of a defeated disciple. He rejects the cultivation world's obsession with power and revenge, choosing instead to become a farmer. He builds a home, grows food, and accidentally creates a family of spirit beasts who become his most powerful allies. His greatest trump card is not a technique but a philosophy: he gives to the land, and the land gives back. He marries Meiling, fathers Zhuye, and though he claims to want nothing to do with cultivation politics, his actions ripple across the entire province. He is the heart of the farm, a man who just wants to be left alone but cannot ignore injustice when it appears at his doorstep.
Formerly Big D, a young rooster on Jin's farm, Bi De awakens as a spirit beast after consuming spirit herbs and imitating his master's cultivation. He develops lunar techniques under the crescent moon and becomes the most powerful of Jin's disciples. He transforms into a human to infiltrate the Shrouded Mountain Sect, testing their demonic corruption by feeding them purifying herbs. He endures the petty tyranny of Zang Zhong and the cold politics of the sect, but he never forgets his family back home. His greatest loyalty is to his master and his farm siblings, and he will do whatever it takes to complete his mission and return to them.
The scarred spirit of the land itself, Tianlan was broken long ago during the Breaking that nearly destroyed the Azure Hills. She is connected to Jin through their bond, and she watches over all those who live on her land. She is slowly healing, and she dreams of the old teachings of Shennong, the Yan Emperor, who taught her about the Dao. She loves her people fiercely and will defend them even if it means breaking the old rules. Her greatest weapon is not a technique but the golden threads that connect her to every person on her land, a network of love and loyalty that no demon can break. She trusts Jin completely and knows he will never betray her.
