She learns to manipulate the Force using mathematical formulas instead of meditation focusing on efficiency and predictability over flow and harmony. This establishes her core methodology of treating every obstacle as a variable to be calculated and neutralized with minimal expenditure of resources. Her early interactions with peers highlight her isolation as she refuses to engage in social bonding rituals that would compromise her mental defenses.

During a diplomatic mission to Mandalore Tanya infiltrates the camp of the Death Watch faction led by Tor Vizsla who seeks to overthrow the pacifist government. Using her lightsabers and blasters simultaneously she decapitates the leader claiming his symbol of authority the Darksaber for herself. Despite Master Dooku insisting she return the weapon to the Jedi she accepts the offer from Jaster Mereel to become a Mandalorian by reciting the Resol'nare code.
