In a world where vampires hide among mortals, one woman's death is only the beginning—and her rebirth comes with eight fangs instead of four, marking her as the spawn of a legendary monster even other monsters fear. Ariane Reynaud awakens in a stone cell, her memories shattered, her body transformed. She is a fledgling vampire—but not just any vampire. She belongs to the bloodline of the Devourer, a millennia-old predator whose progeny are designed to consume and conquer. What should be a curse becomes her greatest weapon: she can devour the very essence of her enemies, absorbing their power and accelerating her growth at a terrifying pace. In a world where politics, ancient bloodlines, and hidden wars dictate survival, Ariane must navigate from being a bargaining chip to becoming a force of nature—or die trying.
I am Ariane, I am my own. I will live, I will go home.
Ariane wakes up in a dungeon with no memories—only the Thirst. She is a bargaining chip for the Devourer, handed over to the rival Lancaster clan. She endures captivity, torture, and gladiatorial combat in their blood pits, learning to fight, to charm, and to survive. When a rival vampire humiliates her, she kills her and escapes with the help of a squire named Jimena and her first Vassal, Dalton. She returns home only to find her father a broken man—and herself a monster who must say goodbye forever.
She's no longer prey. She's a hunter who just learned she can absorb the powers of what she kills. From captive to killer; her sire's bloodline is her cheat code.
Ariane finds refuge with Loth of Skoragg, a centuries-old dwarven warrior-scholar who offers her shelter in exchange for hunting supernatural threats. She grows her powers, builds her reputation, and bonds with her Vassal Dalton. She also meets Sinead, a Fae prince whose blood is so potent it could drive her mad—but whose knowledge of the supernatural world is invaluable. She opens a bank account with the Rosenthal Consortium, laying the foundation for an independent future. Meanwhile, whispers of a secret society called the Brotherhood of the New Light begin to surface.
Ariane creates her own power base while a shadow war brews.
The Brotherhood's plan becomes clear: they seek the Key of Beriah, an artifact capable of draining life on a massive scale. Ariane joins forces with vampires, mages, and native tribes to stop them. In the brutal confrontation, the Herald uses the Key, and Dalton is killed protecting her. Ariane unleashes the full power of her bloodline, devours the Herald, and destroys the artifact—but not before a Knight squad arrives with a death warrant signed by Constantine himself. Lord Suarez intervenes, but she must flee, a rogue once more.
She won the battle but lost her closest ally—and now the world itself has declared her prey.
Ariane escapes north to Marquette, Illinois, building a successful brothel called "The Dream" as her new base of operations. She establishes a false identity and runs the town's underworld with a mix of charm and violence. When a shape-shifting Skinwalker begins terrorizing the town, she hunts it down in a brutal pursuit—then finds Sinead waiting in her bedroom, having spent a fortune on her credit. He offers her a deal: information on an Order of Gabriel prison, in exchange for hospitality.
Ariane becomes a warlord in her own right; Sinead re-enters with leverage.
Transformed against her will, Ariane devours enemies to grow stronger. She's fought her way from slavery to autonomy, lost her Vassal Dalton, and now operates in the shadows as a self-made queen of a frontier town.
A former outlaw who pledged himself to Ariane out of choice. He was her anchor, her voice of reason, and the first being she genuinely trusted since her transformation. His death at the hands of the Herald is the turning point that breaks—and forges—her.
A centuries-old dwarven exile who becomes Ariane's friend and guide. He teaches her about magic, weapons, and politics, and represents the first family she builds after her transformation. He leaves for Europe after their war, but his influence remains.
